People are always asking us about the kids’ names, why we chose them, do they have any special meaning.
Nikhil: Pete wanted Nick. Why? “Yeah, Nick. Nick’s a real name. Nick’s your buddy. Nick’s the kind of guy you can trust, the kind of guy you can drink a beer with, the kind of guy who doesn’t mind if you puke in his car, Nick.” And that is exactly how he quoted it to me. Which is another level of scary. But convincing.
From his favorite movie before he met me: The Sure Thing
I wanted an Indian name, so I picked Nikhil, and Pete got his “Nik.”
Anjali: Pete’s favorite Indian movie is this one. The lead actress and the little girl in the movie are named “Anjali.” I didn’t hate the name, like I did the others he wanted, so we went with this.
No profound meanings, no family connections…pretty mundane reasons, both driven by movies!
